Ibanez RG 521 (Wilkinson) QS

NGD: second one this week alone.

It's one of those weird RGs with the wilkinson trem. Never really appeared on the catalogs, only found in northern europe.

Re: Ibanez RG 521 (Wilkinson) QS

It's a rare beast, VERY useful if you have to play in different tunings in one set but don't want to carry around 3 different RGs.

It is not the best RG ever made though. The neck is a little bit more rounded than the average 550. The rosewood for the fretboard is a little pale, more red than the usual (I treated it with oil for furniture mixed with white spirit, but still very pale).

The combination Mahogany/V7&V8 is very powerful though. Better than expected.

I've never seen one of those before…but I really like it! A Wilkinson bridge is a nice upgrade from stock for sure…I have a Wilkinson bridge on one of my Strats and they are nice bridges. Very nice guitar - congrats!!!

Depends what your "stock" option is

I wouldn't say that a wilkinson is better than an edge or lo pro! Just different and more useful for different things (eg: alternate tunings on the go).

The tuners are actually good ones, SHORT! check the pics, i've never seen them before. Useful for that nut, otherwise normal ones would have the strings flying all over

The 520's never had that bridge. This is a 521-Qulited Sapelle

And yeah, that's a NICE guitar, good luck with her!

Re: Ibanez RG 521 (Wilkinson) QS

Actually, the radius models with a vintage trem were called 442r. I don't understand why they stamped these as 521 instead of 522, which would have made more sense to me....
