ibanez rg 570

I have an rg570 that I really love and was thinking about making my main guitar (as in eventually haveing more then one), but I really do like the jems (jem 7vwh), but I would never want to make this one of my main guitars as everyone knows it is Vai's sig model. So my question is... how much better is the jem (besides the pickups) then the rg570? And is the rg1570 or rg3120 better then the 570?

You can play "Louie Louie" on each of those guitars.

Well I am one of the believers that a 5series Ibanez RG is equal to a JEM apart from pickups, but they can be easily replaced.

I mean, at the end of the day, thats what the JEM was based on. But most of the JEM features are all cosmetic and just for looks. Dont get me wrong, they look cool, but they dont help in playability.

I absolutely love the RG550 and RG570 and I would have one as my main guitar anyday. Just remember......its not the guitar, its the person whos playing it. Obviously the guitar counts to a degree, but you know what I mean!

I believe Alex Skolnick had RG550 as his main guitar at some point when he was with Testament.

The jem7v's have alder bodies, rather than the besswood of the rg 5 series.

rg1570 is pretty much the same as the 570 except for the prestige neck and the direct mounted pickups. the rg3120 has a mahogony body and pafpro/tonezone pickups which gives it a fatter tone than the 570.

but i still love my 570

Prestige necks are a little bit nicer to play, but basically it means the edges of the frets feel smoother. That's simplifying it a bit, but they're both pro-level guitars. It's not like choosing between a Cort and a PRS. After a few years of solid playing, a non-prestige neck will probably feel a lot like one anyway, because what they do is work on the fretboard a little more to make it feel like it's been played-in for a few years.

I miss my RG570, and will probably pick up another at some point. I never played the 570 side by side with my JEM7VWH, though. I don't remember the RG playing as ridiculously well as the JEM. Pickups on the RG were an issue as well...
