Ibanez RG series question

At first, hi to all, I'm new here and this is my first post.

I'm in the process of buying an RG, so I narrowed it down to 2 choices:

1. Get a new RG320FM, and spend all the money.
2. Get a second-hand RG220b (mint condition, played only 2-3 times, it even has the protective nylons on the pickups), and with the rest of the money get a pair of DiMarzios. This guitar has Edge II.

The question is, how superior the RG320 is, in the therms of value and durability? Is it worth the extra cash? I tried the 220, it played very nice, but I expect the 320 to be even better. I have around 550 euros to spend on a guitar (& pups eventually), so any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Ibanez RG series question

I'd recommend a second has rg550. The difference in quality of both hardware and build will be massive.

Or even a used rg470. The hardware will be similar to that of the 320 but the build will be far better.

Re: Ibanez RG series question

Agreed. A used 5xx series is a much better guitar.

Re: Ibanez RG series question

Thanks for the replies guys.

I would buy an used 5xx in a heartbeat if I see one around. The problem is, I haven't seen stuff like that for ages around here. Even those 470s are extremely hard to find.

I guess I'm stuck with the two choices displayed above.

With the weak US dollar you might consider getting one of the bay and having it shipped to you. Btw welcome to the asylum.

Yeah, most probably I'll go with a brand new 320. I just have to wait 2-3 weeks.

Re: Ibanez RG series question

I've had several 550s, a 570, and now I have a 220 with the Edge III and a pair of Motherbuckers installed, and am quite happy with it. For me, the weak point was the stock pickups. the Motherbuckers scream, the guitar plays great, the Edge III RARELY goes out of tune, and I saved plenty. All around, a good deal for me.

Re: Ibanez RG series question

863US.

From the choices, 320.

If you can find a seller willing to take a wire transfer, you'd still be better off with the 5xx

Re: Ibanez RG series question

I hope I don't sound rude, but if you have an e-Bay account you should post the details if you're offering someone a guitar -- you only have 18 posts, and gaining anyone's trust around here could prove slightly difficult.
