Ibanez RG style with H-S?

I'm letting go of a couple of guitars that I just don't play much and plan on replacing them with one that will I actually use. I'm looking for one with 24 frets, Edge or EZ II trem, a humbucker bridge, single at the neck, and that doesn't cost too much for a bedroom guitarist. I just don't know many Ibanez models set up like that... I can think of the RG3XXV (great guitar, but Indo quality neck work), RG565 (hard to find and pricey), and RGR465 (Edge III trem).

I guess I could modify a MIJ or MIK RG of some kind... but I thought I'd ask around before buying anything. Any other RG models you guys know of with H-S pickup configuration?

Thanks...

Even if you get an HH or HSH, if you've got a 5 way switch, there's a lot of possibilities. I've got an 01 520qs HH 5 way switch. Makes some pretty decent strat sounds @ 2&4.

Funny that you mention the 520qs... that's one I'm thinking about selling. Awesome guitar, neck is flawless... but it has an inherent resonance in that particular guitar that I cannot get rid of, sound strangely hollow and flat. Seems to affect it even through the springs/strings/pickups... I even put active EMG's in it, which did help a lot.

I like the H-H in my JS1200, just have it in my head to recreate the great sound of a couple of H-S guitars I once had. Also looking at vintage MIJ Charvels and Jacksons with that configuration, but would like to stay with Ibanez... Thanks for the advice though! Lately I've warmed up to split humbuckers a bit more, maybe I just need to get used to tweaking my setup for them until I get sounds I like.

I would like this combo as well just because on a 24 fret guitar I hit the neck humbucker poles with the pick occasionally. Thought about getting a 655 and then getting a pickguard for S-H combo. It’s bad technique on my part, but also wanna try the single coil neck for a cleaner tone.

Have you tried dampeners in the springs? I do it to all of mine & get rid of a lot of noise. I put a Schaller sure claw in mine & my roadstar 2. I love those things.

Any pickguard HSH RG could easilly be transform in HS with new pickguard.

I like the H-S pickup configuration for the same reason. Maybe its all in my head, but it seems to me the single coil gets more of a "neck pickup" sound when placed right at the end of the longer 24 fret fretboard.

I looked up the Schaller Sure Claw and see what you mean... My concern is that it only has 3 spring hooks and my 520 uses 4 springs, at least that's how it came to me and is still using. However, when I looked it up on Amazon right below it was "Heavy duty Floyd Rose noiseless springs"... the red ones. I wonder if I could buy the Sure Claw and the heavy duty noiseless springs and get rid of the boxy resonance and spring noise?

Also, did your sure claw fit the Ibanez cavity ok? No problems with the mounting screws going into the neck pickup cavity or anything?

BTW - My main player guitar is a Roadstar II... and I just picked up another one with 3 single coils.. but hardtailed one and keep the trem blocked on the other. Love those necks!!

My main player is a 86 roadstar 2. Sure claw fits great except the screws they ship with it are too long. I changed over to 3 heavy duty springs & there is plenty of adjustment room. I just put 3/16 clear fuel line hose in mine. Costs about a dollar/foot at local hardware store.
