Ibanez RG1570 or RG2550Z?

There are two guitars in my local store, both the same price. One is the RG1570 with the Edge Pro and the other is I think an RG2550Z with the Edge Zero. The 2550 has a chip in the body, otherwise it's just the floor demo. I don't think they make this model anymore so I'm surprised it's up on the wall. I don't think it's used because it's not in the used section of the shop. Which is the better guitar (pickups, trem, etc...)? Thanks

Re: Ibanez RG1570 or RG2550Z?

i'd say go for the 1570, there isn't much difference visually on the two models anyway, except the trem. Both are quality Prestige axes anyway, so you'll be getting your money's worth.

I can't see the chip, but if the two guitars were new i'd say save money and go for the 1570, use the money to upgrade your other gear.

Both guitars are the same price (CAN$1099). I've no idea what the original retail price for the 2550Z is or how much more up market it is than the 1570. How do their pickups compare?

1570 - Edge Pro.
2550z - Edge Zero.

Auto win for 1570!

The general opinion is, yes. All in looks, build quality (the Edge Zero is Chinese made), plus if you don't like Edge Zero (which is quite likely) you won't be able to replace it, due to the stud spacing.

I like both but the 1570 takes it for me. Why? The Trem of course.

It's funny - I posted this on another forum and the consensus there was to buy the RG2550Z!

I was hoping two independant sites, one Ibanez based, and one not, would agree on one guitar. I guess not!

They've obviously never played an Edge Zero. Trust us, STAY AWAY FROM THAT TREM!

Re: Ibanez RG1570 or RG2550Z?

Nobody has asked him if he like binding down the neck. that makes a differance to some people. i dont care but it looks nice.

The edge zero is still working fine for me but the pro has a better reputation. ultimately though, a good guitarist will make good of both trems as long as they stay in tune (which they both do)

UG forums are full of crazy people tho.

UG is very much 'teh internets', whereas this forum seems more like just a forum where people behave as they do in real life.

What is "binding down the neck"? I'm not familiar with that term.

uhhhhhhhhh, guys the trem isn't THAT BAD! it stays in tune fine (even in ZPS mode for me) and in free float mode it will be equal to an edge/lopro/edge pro. plus it has locking studs...if that's any consolation.
