Ibanez RG3120 refinishing project

I'm in the process of refinishing an Ibanez RG3120 that someone had sanded down (not me!) completely. I have stained the back, sides and the maple top. How do you guys clear coat it? Do you spray it on or wipe it on with a cloth? I tried the wipe on stuff once, but it caused bubbles.... how do you avoid that? Here's a picture of it, nearly finished.... I still have some touching up to do with the binding:

You can buy clearcoat in spray cans now. Not sure how good it goes on though Probably best to do a couple of trial runs on something else.

Yeah, I know about the spray stuff. Which way is more professional: spraying it or wiping?

Another option you have is to go down to a local auto body shop and ask them to spray it for you.
It should cost somewhere around 30 to 40 bucks, Cause those guys always pocket the cash.

Re: Ibanez RG3120 refinishing project

Since I posted last, I have already started clear coating it. I'm using Minwax Wipe On Poly and it's working amazingly well! I appreciate the suggestions to have it professionally done, however, I wanted to finish this all by myself, without any professional work done to it.

I just wanted to know it was something I could do. So far, it's looking pretty good! I haven't noticed any yellowing, but if it does, it does. More pictures to come in the next few days....

Well, the first picture came out lighter than it actually was. It's closer to the last picture, which is more green.

Re: Ibanez RG3120 refinishing project

Very nice. I was actually going to do that with an RG3120 that I once had. Bought it with the finish stripped already but could never get around to refinishing it so I just sold the guitar.
