Ibanez RG421 . . . what a buy!!! - Talk about bang for your

Well, I've been debating getting one of these babies since released last summer. *My original thought was that it would make a good backup axe. *I figured having a fixed bridge guitar on stage would be a nice safety net. *I've held off for a while, but finally pulled the trigger on the RG421 this week. *WHAT A BUY!!!

I can't get over what a steal this is! *I picked mine up for $429 (no case) from American Musical Supply. *I happened to have an Air Norton and Air Zone sitting around to throw in it (which took the tone from good to incredible), but WOW* what a bargain! *Even adding the cost of new after market pups (about $120 or so) it's still an unbelievable buy!!!

I won't bore you with the all the details of why I think this baby kicks so much a$$ . . . but I will say the craftsmanship is everything we've come to expect from japanese made Ibanez guitars. *If you've been pondering this one, don't hesitate any longer. *

I've got one too, mine's the blue one. I put an AN in the neck and a TZ in the bridge, and I'm blown away.

They quality of construction is great, and the feel of the hardtail is awesome. I love this guitar.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but there are a lot of alternatives out there in that price range right now, and I don't know that the RG421 is a particular bargain when you consider the Gibson faded SG at $499 or a Godin LG P90 for a little less... A US-made instrument will hold it's value far better than a Korean RG, and you won't have to upgrade the pickups on the Gibson or Godin... Of course, you won't get a Wizard neck with either of the "G" guitars either, so I guess it's really a question of personal preference... One thing's for sure, there's never been a better time to be a guitarist with a few $$ in your pocket! (geeze, I'm starting to sound like those stupid Guitar One reviews... :loco: )

The RG421 is Japanese made . . . even says so on the back of the headstock.*I'm a Jem/RG man through and through so this one definitely came down to personal preference.*I almost went with a Gibson faded V (sells for a bit over $600 vs. the even better value SG), but in the end my preferences got the best of me. Sadly, even the Japanese made mid-range Ibanez' don't hold their value as well as U.S. made guitars, but frankly I like them a helluva lot better*

Ibanez decided to confuse us by marking this one as an RG4xx, which has traditionally been the RG "cut-off" for made in Korea vs. Japan. Despite what the model number designation implies, these beauties are indeed Japanese made. Agreed . . . it is a great time to be a broke guitarist with G.A.S.

I absolutely hate Gibsons, I think they all suck. That's why I play Ibanez. That's why I come to an Ibanez forum.

I don't give to squirts about the resale value of a guitar, because I buy them to play, not to sell a year later.

Both the RG421 and the RG470 are Japanese. Why Ibanez does this, I don't know.

Ibanez RG421 . . . what a buy!!!

It's funny, I've owned at least one guitar from just about every major manufacturer . . . I can't stop coming back to Ibanez! When I was in high school, I played a hot-rodded Les Paul . . . I considered the V as a possible return to the land of Gibson . . . somewhat for nostalgia, somewhat for variety. I couldn't find a faded V in a local store, so I played the real deal $1,200+ '67 Reissue V . . . didn't care for it much at all. That solidified my decision.

I've been playing guitar for almost 13 years. I've owned high end Strats, Gibsons, Jacksons, Parkers and Ibanez. The one's I haven't owned, I've played at some point and decided against them. After trying nearly one of everything, I keep coming back to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix is" philosophy. For my playing style and taste, the Ibanez Jems/RGs are perfect. Even when I try really hard, I can't convince myself to buy another manufacturer's guitar! :loco:

I've had a lot of different manufacturers too; Washburn N4, Jacksons, Fenders, none of them are as good as Ibanez.

Ad a "7" between the "G" and the "4" and it'll all make sense. *It's an RG-7421 without the 7th string. *Now an RG-621 or something would really be cool.
