Ibanez RG560 1990

Hello, first of all I would ask sorry if my English isn't good, but I'm Italian. Anyway, I'll write the best I can.
Here's my problem: A guy in my city (I don't know who he is, I found a web advertisement) is selling as Ibanez, a RG560 prototype, made in 1990. He says that's a limited edition... Did a RG560 prototype existe in the early '90? I looked up in the web, but I didn't find anything... He costumized it with a SD JB at the bridge and a SD Reissue '59 MiniHumbucker at the neck. He's selling it at 450 euros (600 dollars)... Should I trust him (of course I'm going to try the guitar before purchasing it)? Can you give me some infos about RG560?

Thank you very much

Here's the guitar image http://www.mercatinomusicale.com/allegati/1040417.jpg

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

This looks like a standard RG560 to me and a 1990 one is very unlikely to be a prototype as the model has been around since the late 80s!

I think it's a little expensive but not by much, (for european pricing these days) I'd suggest offering 350 Euros, especially if it doesn't have a case, and seeing if you can get him down to 400 or so.

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

It looks like it's just a standard 560 to me. Also the 560 had been in production for awhile by the 90's, so I don't think it's a prototype of any kind.

$600 is pretty high for a 560 in my opinion. If I were you I'd pass.

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

beh 450 non neanche male come prezzo, considerando i pickups. cmq vero, non mai esistita una edizione limitata della 560. ciao

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

Would you suggest me buying a 2001 RG550 LTD with stock pickups, in very good condition (as the seller says... here's a photo http://www.mercatinomusicale.com/allegati/809825.jpg ), with an hard case for 400 euros (530 dollars) instead of the RG560? Another guy in my city is selling the RG550, so I'll be able to try it if i want. There's only one thing I'm worried about... I thought RG550 had shark tooth inlays, while the one in the photo has white dots... Isn't that strange?
Thanks for your help

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

I'm guessing that could be an RG-570........I find it a little odd that it has the dot inlays too. I personally prefer the old style square neck joint. Being a 2001, this one would have the AANJ. However, if you have no preference, or like the AANJ better.....this one would be the better option I think.

Maybe that's a RG550 EX, I think it has dot inlays and rosewood fretboard...

The 570 doesn't have a pickguard.

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

I had one identical to that, still hate I sold it, that was the main reason I bought a 20th RG....

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

The owner of the RG560 has given me the serial number: F935486.
Can you tell me something with this serial? He Says he guesses that's a RG560 (maybe there's no name on the guitar, I think that was a common use in the late '80s and early '90s). For the price I said before (450 euros = 600 dollars) he'll also give me the original hard case, and he says the guitar has just been perfectly set up.

it's a 1989, and it's just an RG560, probably CA (Candy Apple), or RR (Ruby Red), the pic is bad. don't let it go, for that price and good pickups. it's also got a matched headstock, which is so cool. go for it!

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

I'm going and trying it as soon as I can (I'll also check the overall condition of the guitar, particularly the neck and the fretboard). Is it true that it has a neck even thinner than the actual RGs'?

Re: Ibanez RG560 1990

It has the original Wizard neck, same as all the RG's of that era. The guitar looks completely stock except for the knobs, which look swapped off a 550 iirc.
