Ibanez RGT + DSonic = Awesome.

Well, I finally got some batteries for my camera, went for a nice walk in the park today to take some pictures of random things (lots of squirrels) and decided to take afew fast pics of my latest guitar I got like 2 weeks ago, since I didnt when I actually received it. It isnt the greatest day outside so I did the pics in my basement with a light right above it, but it obviously isnt super great pics. with the crap camera as usual. But uh least I got some.

The Dsonic sounds pretty good, I dunno if its as dirty as I would like, so thinking about switching it out for a Duncan Distortion, but the Duncan Jazz in the neck gets the job done, as always. Oh and FYI... RGT's are probably the best bang for your buck 6 string guitar.. Esp these ones, Red flamed top, Mahogany, Sound great and play even better.. The EPII is abit touchy in intonation, cant lean on it too much, but its definately not as horrible as people make it out to be. It will be Tremol-no'd in the future, I just only had enough money for one T-No right now and its going on my RG7620 (I'll take pics in a week or so when im done refinishing it)

Some pics abit blurry.. =[ BTW Special thanks to Ugg, we had some issues with mail, but its a lovely guitar. Couldn't be happier with it.

Evil Squirrel approves of the Ibanez RGTs.

i like the lowest body pic, it almost doesnt look like a d-sonic what with the string shadows/reflections on the bar!

Congrats! RGT+DSonic sounds like the combination for success!
Why did you install it with the bar facing the neck? What's the difference in the sound?

Apparently, the sound changes with each diferent way you install it. I read that having the bar facing the neck, gives it more low end, and makes it abit more chunkier than with the bar facing the bridge. Now im not sure if this is true or not, I will probably switch it next time I put new strings on, or if my RG7620 is refinished by then, I will try my DS7 with the bar facing bridge

But Petrucci has afew different guitars with them in different positions, so I guess it does make a difference lol I also have my Duncan Jazz upside down too, but thats because the wire is getting short =[

You're right NickCormier. The bar towards the neck will give a heavier and chunky sound, but with enough clarity on the high strings for solos and individual notes. The bar facing the neck is also recommended for drop tuning and other lower tuning. The bar facing the neck is optimal for soloing, has more treble and will sound better clean. Petrucci used both and I believe he now only uses it with the bar facing the neck. I have a PAF Joe in the neck of my RG 2550 and I'm not 100% satisfied with it, I plan on trying a D-Sonic next.

Yea I imagine the DSonic would be amazing for any low tunings or 7 strings, but for 6 strings in standard, im not sure if im really feeling it.. But its not a bad pickup, just abit tighter than I like. Like doing a Megadeth riff or something, its so tight that its almost robotic sounding, rather than flowing, which I like alot more (abit of mud always helps)

Interesting... I feel the same way about the PAF Joe, I like it but find it to tight for my tone. I know Petrucci uses the DSonic in standard for some tunes, but his gear is much better and mine and your's I'm sure hehe.

Yea.. Most Dimarzio's ive tried (Evo, x2n, dsonic, PAFs) usually dont have the "ballsiness" of duncans I find, so I dunno.
