ibanez S770 review's, upgrades, setups

Hey Folks,

My 2nd post out here (keeping the spirit up) and so far I haven't found anyone that uses this particular guitar.

Here're some stats -

neck type 3pc Wizard III Maple neck
body Flamed Maple top/Mahogany body
fret Jumbo frets
bridge ZR bridge with ZPS2
neck pu INF1 (H) neck
middle pu INFS1 (S) mid
bridge pu INF2 (H) bridge

So far I was amazed with the axe look, it sure is pretty and look very thin. Fast neck (maple) really giving the edge.
Reliable trem ZR, so far I got used to it even tough I have played a JEM guitar and feels almost the same but just a bit heavier (in weight - string tension+spring tension) but most of all always in tune.

When I bought the guitar it needed general setup because it looked like Robin Hood's bow. Strings were too high and there were some problems with intonation (not every guitar is perfect). However I really liked the finish on this guitar and took the risk in bying it.

It has a 5 way switch with INF1, INFS1, INF2 .. the thing is since its MAHAGONY, the sound is deeper and maple top gives a sharp with lots of mids riff playing. INF's LACK SERIOUS POWER. I've tested for ex. satchurator on my wasburn and had greater greater delivery in setup's that I used. (washbutn is H-H stock gear)

Blah blah blah - im not that skilled guitar player but i swear this guitar can be used for all kinds of ganres (with correct setup)

So guyz what u think - tone zone for the bridge and air norton for the neck ?
I recentrly did some rewiring on it and made this baby in H-H and H-S-H ( I had to change the 5 way switch cuz of the wireing slots) The thing is the INF 1 -INF 2 don't get allong so I'll probably need a new gear.

Any thoughts my musician amigos?

Very nice guitar and a good write up Satch!!!! I think the S770 is a very overlooked guitar.

I would think more about medium output pickups........ the Tone Zone can get pretty muddy in mahogany if your using a high gain amp. Perhaps something like an Air Zone or a Norton in the bridge. I'm also a HUGE fan of the FRED in the neck. It would work well with the Air Zone in the bridge.

RgFanatic - haha agree about FRED.. idk . its a bit expensive , I've been told for mahagony with tone zone, as good pickup as it is , its not for this kind of body .

Air Zone in the bridge? ..hmm...

Im still looking for some sustain ..INF's are not that bad. .certainly above low-end BUT they don't deliver your gear pretty well... for example I'll use satchurator witch is overllook as well - combine it with telecaster- blues magic .. greater sustatin too since the chords are going through the body.

I think you'll love the Air Zone then. It's smaller magnetic field produces less string pull giving you more sustain. I don't have any real world experience with the ZR trem, but it seems beefy enough to not harm sustain or tone.

Thank's man , I compaired the ZR with JEM .. it is that good ,
I'm starting to look for Air Zone now, see how it sounds on mahagony.
Still need the neck pickup dough... 1 option is PAF for now..

Apretiate for fast responding !!!
