Re: Ibanez SA320X Vs. Variax 500-600 for Strat and piezo sounds
I wasn't aware that there was an SA320X. Is this a non-US model? Could you describe it?
I have the SA420X that was sold here for a couple of years, and it's a great guitar: Japanese made with an Ultra neck. The piezo is well done and sounds very sweet for soft, chordal things. But I've never heard a piezo that would completely fool me into thinking it was an acoustic (this one included). As far as strat sounds -- it's pretty tough to get pure stratty twang with two humbuckers, but the V-series pickups in this guitar are not real high output, and get a bit of that vibe in the middle position. The ability to blend the piezo in with the other pickups gives a lot of options. No experience with the Variax, so I can't help there...
