Ibanez UCEW Trans Black

Found this on Yahoo Japan auctions. Can anyone verify if this is a valid USA Custom? The body looks like a 1992 UCEW and the neck looks like 1991! Here's the pic:

Re: Ibanez UCEW Trans Black

Looks real enough to me

Neck swaps and neck/body mismatches across years are common enough.

That is one gorgeous looking guitar! I have to avoid links like that, I've promised myself I'll stop spending all my cash on equipment I don't need...

Looks like one of those plastic fret protectors that come with new ESP's.....it'd be nice if ibanez did those!!!

That guitar looks beautiful! It's a fret protector. Looks like a very nicely cared for axe!

Re: Ibanez UCEW Trans Black

did that UCEW originally have EMGs? I don't think so...which means it's modded beyond repair

Re: Ibanez UCEW Trans Black

That looks like a refinished UCEW with a different neck swapped on. Even though may not be100% original, it's cool enough for me to buy.

Re: Ibanez UCEW Trans Black

Trans Black was a color option on the 1992 UCEW, but they had birdseye maple necks with birdseye headstock, rosewood fretboards and abalone dot inlays.

Re: Ibanez UCEW Trans Black

EMGs were also an option. I've had (7) UCEW over the years and did have (1) FM model that had factory EMGs (though it was an H-S-S config)
