Newbie.

Let have a contest. Your Js100 versus my '56 Strat.

Game over.

how about my UVMC versus your '56......just kidding!

i don't think ibanez and fender are comparable. though ibanez has made some strats, their main business are 'superstrats', and for me, they're the best.

that said...i would really take a usa hamer daytona before any strat

There are strats then there are strats

Fender HM strat versus RG560 Hmmm I'd go with the strat

(To me that was their only decent strat)

Every thing else swings Ibanez's way

I think that if you really want a Strat tone, then there's no better guitar for it than a nice Strat. I had a '64 Hardtail that was KILLER! I actually sold it to buy a couple of JEM's years ago (which I REALLY regret!) Now, after years of searching for the "perfect" Strat for me (and after going through about 2 dozen Strats along the way), I've settled on an incredible Custom Shop 60's Relic Strat. Killer, true Strat tone, great neck, and the nicest Strat I've played. I've had a few different Ibanez "strat" models, but none have come close to the real thing.

Overall, Ibanez' are primarily humbucker-type guitars. That's their forte, and is definitely what they do best. Comparing a Strat to a JEM isn't too far off from comparing a Strat to a Les Paul: they're different machines designed to give different tones. Both have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. So...I'll usually take a JEM, JS or J Custom to a gig, along with the Strat and either my EB/MM JPM (for the piezo). That way, I've got just about all tonal needs covered.

My sentiments exactly...to me Ibanez are generally great bucker guitars with quite usable split coil tones. But a strat has something different going on with single coil tone.
