NGD - 1988 Ibanez 540P SH in all its yellow glory.

Ok here we are. No thanks to the turds who tired to buy this out from under me. but Bill is a friend. knew he wasnt going to sell it. But was a little nervous LOL

Anyways here she is. I cleaned it up and saw it was a factory 2nd but who cares. they will can these for the littlest things like my warrior pro. no idea why.

That or it could be since Wiki says these came out in 89 and serial is 88 possibly a demo or prototype? who knows. not a concern to me.

But thanks to Ride for filling in all the whos and whats in terms of specs. but one more question. kinda a dumb one but considered a USA model?

enough Jabbin. Heres the pics.

Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Buy that IMMEDIATELY.

Seriously, people are going to be scouring Craigslist now and trying to buy that out from under you. I'm not going to lie, that thought crossed my mind before I posted this. I'll actually make you an offer that you can buy that for $600 and flip it to me immediately. I won't even care that you're making a profit.

Absolutely. If it's in good shape, that's a keeper. And if you decide you don't like it later, theres probably a dozen guys on this site that'll buy it from you.

By the way, if you're interested in the exact same guitar buy in a sea foam green color, I'll trade you mine plus cash for that yellow one. If it isn't obvious, I really want this guitar in the yellow finish.

Yep, same thing crossed my mind as soon as I read the OP's post. You can pretty much guarantee that you'd get your eye wiped pretty quick on that guitar once word was out. I'd take the sellers arm off at that price mate.

Re: IBBY Experts Help me out on this 88/89 540 RSH

It took me less than five minutes to find the listing, so the OP better buy this quick before someone less scrupulous takes a run at it.

DISCLAIMER: I have not and will not contact the seller. If I were to have done that, I wouldn't have posted in this thread telling you to act fast.

Now THAT is a good deal. I actually think the SFG you own Jesse is the better looking guitar, both are stunning though.

LOL, it usually isn't like that. This just happens to be an incredible deal on a very hard to find guitar.

The guitar you're buying is from the Roadstar Pro series and is called the Power, or later 540P. There was an original 540P that had a different body and neck, but they never changed the model number in the US. Overseas they called this guitar the 540PII, but that version had 24 frets, a pickguard and a different neck joint.

The US version 540P was only sold in 1989 and 1990 and has 22 frets and no pickguard. It is often called the "Skolnick" guitar because Alex Skolnick is the only artist ever known to have used one and is pictured with one in all the catalogs. It was sold in both SH and HH configurations.

At the time, it was an incredibly unpopular guitar, which is why Ibanez pulled it after two years. Leftover ones at stores were said to have been almost given away. But the rarity and the quirkiness has over the years made these extremely collectible. The one you're buying is the Desert Sun Yellow (DY) finish and among collectors, is usually considered the most sought after color.

Told you that would happen LOL. You had no way of knowing, but you posted an unreal deal. That guitar could have probably fetched $1300-1400 based on some recent auctions I've seen. It's just one of those things, if you find a deal that's too good to be true, you don't talk about it until it's done

Congrats on getting an amazing deal on the guitar! Hopefully your friend doesn't find out what he could have gotten for it
