Ibby Prestige buying guide?

Hello all. I've posted here early this week to ask about a couple things about the RG1570.

Thing is, I'm going to try a few at different stores next week. Now, I live in South America. I've had a bad experience with my current Ibby (although I should probably keep in mind it's the cheapest chinese model..) and I want to know what things should I look for on the new guitar.

I'm not stupid. I just dont want to miss anything. For example.. I dont want to be told it's a 2010 model when it's a new old stock from God knows when (I'll never know how they've kept them over the years). I know Prestige guitars have a great build quality. Do I still need to check every single inch of it? Frets, bridge, etc. etc.?

Yeah, I sound to paranoic about the whole thing.. but when it comes to spend $7400 (about 1600 dollars) in my local currency.. well I think anybody would be like this! Thanks

Don't be afraid to go to the store and take a TON of pics before buying. come back and show us the pics of what you like, and maybe we can help sort out what your actually looking at....

Ok, I will. What's the most important thing that makes you decide wether to get a guitar or another when they are the same model?

Re: Ibby Prestige buying guide?

It's all about the neck. Make sure none of the frets are sticking up. You also want to sight down the edge of the fretboard. It should have a nice smooth bow to it. I usually grab the guitar by the body and look up towards the headstock on the bass and treble side. If the treble side has more bow than the bass side, don't buy that guitar. If the bass has more bow, or it's an equal amount, all is good.

See, that's what I'm most concerned about. I didnt keep that in mind when I bought my first guitar, and it ended up with the neck super warped.

step two find a prestige you like.

RG1570 is a great guitar, you'd be doing yourself a big favour if you swap the pickups though!

Definitely do what everyone else here has said though.

besides the fact shipping to south america is extremely cost prohibitive, this is probably your "best" bet to get a quality guitar. That said, if you have local guitar stores with prestiges, Id recommend that honestly. Not tryin to take away from rich at all, just something that seems more prudent.

Yeah. Like I said Rich was my first option but the shipping costs to south america where insanely high. Between customs and shipping I had to to pay $1800ish while at my local store I can get it for about 1600.. it's still high, but with the 200 bucks I can swap pickups and whatnot
