Re: IC 500 Iceman
The IC500 which was made in Japan, was indeed made in low numbers (around 250). It never featured in any Ibanez catalogues as they produced the guitars to 'test the water' as to how they would sell. After the 1994 limited production run, the 'normal' line of Icemans started. The limited run models feature wider, more decorative binding, and 'black chrome' hardware.
I bought one from new in Denmark street, London for about Ģ800. It's easily one of my best guitars so well done on the purchase.
As far as the pickups go.. I'm really not sure what they are! Unfortunately my guitars are in storage for a couple of months (moving home) so I can't pop one out to look. If i was to make an educated guess, i'd say the pickups sound very similar to V7's but obviously in a mahogany body with glued neck you get a chunkier Les Paul kind of warmth. So if you get no luck finding some, maybe you could consider some pickups out of an old RG 550.
