Hyedua bookmatched top.

Walnut back with Padauk, Wenge and Maple veneer center stripe. All roughed out on these pics.

Re: Iceman build .

Carved this one by hand. The router would have shredded this shape.

Wow man awesome work Zoot... That center stripe is sweet, excellent contrast with the thin maple in there... very cool

Re: Iceman build .

Cheers folks
Had a few hours in between work to start the neck today.
I didn't want the bog standard Ibby style neck so I changed the headstock.

Re: Iceman build .

Looks cool man... What kind of timber is the board?

Also what are you using to cut the final width on the neck? I've used my band saw but it's not that easy to get a really straight line with the angle... If the neck was the same width all along the length it'd be easy...

Cheers.
The way I used to do it was by strapping my belt sander to a workmate (not a human one) and then get as close to the line and then use a long piece of wood around 8" with 60 grit sandpaper to get a dead sharp line then finish up to fine grits , works every time.

Awesome thanks man! I will try that out next time... Fortunately my belt sander is already attached to a table so I won't have to force a mate into a strap

Re: Iceman build .

Had a bit of time tonight to tart shaping the neck and put a belly contour on the bod.
Ditched the TOM idea and ordered a floyde trem.
