Identifying an Ibanez RG (550?)

Hi everyone.

I have been wondering about 2 different Ibanez RG's that I own/owned and you seem to know a thing or two about Ibanez models here

I've been looking at Ibanez Wikia and my guitars doesn't seem to have the same specs as "their" RG550s

Guitar Nr1 (don't have it anymore):

Bought it new in store back in -99 and it was supposed to be a RG550EX. Made in -98 I think, wine-red color, with black pickguard and headstock, V7, S1, V8 pick-ups, thin as a Wizard I neck, edge tremolo. But it did not have any bubinga stripe, it was a rosewood fingerboard not maple, and I am not sure but I think it had a one-piece neck (+headstock ofc) and not 3 piece like Ibanez Wikia says.

Guitar Nr2 (my current one):

Bought it used and is according to the seller a RG550. Also made in -98 in all black finish, V7, S1, V8 pick-ups, edge tremolo. The neck feels slightly thicker than what I can remember it did on Nr1, but it's long ago since I had that. The finish on the neck is also different, it has a thicker and more shiny coating than Guitar Nr1. This is also a one-piece neck (+headstock) with no bubinga stripe and rosewood fretboard.

So, are these guitars really 550s? Is it just Ibanez Wikia that isn't very accurate?

Pics would help, but they do sound like 550s.

Also, go thru the Ibanez catalogs and look for them.

Maybe the neck was replaced. I used to own two of the first reissues, a desert yellow from 97 and a black one from 98 and they both had the bubinga stripe. Is the ibanez logo chrome or white? I remember they were chrome on mines.

That's a 1998 RG-550.

No, it seems to be an RG505 according to Ibanez catalogues. And so was the wine red that I bought from store. Both under false name.

An RG505 has the things that differ my guitar from an RG550; rosewood board and 1pc maple neck.

Re: Identifying an Ibanez RG (550?)

yeah, looks like RG 505.
To make sure, compare it to any RG 550 with maple board.
RG 505 is Wizard II, it thicker and rounder than maple boarg RG 550.
