Ikebe Question

When ordering from Ikebe and having an item shipped to the US, How is the
customs paid? also do they inspect packages before delievering them?

Also what is Ikebe's return policy if there is a problem?

Thanks.

Re: Ikebe Question

I've never had Customs open a guitar that was shipped to me. They usually just bill you based on the tax+duty rate (plus handing fees) on the declared value. Ikebe knows better than to fudge the value of an instrument when exporting it.

As for the return policy, I've never had to send a guitar back to them. BUT you'd end up paying 3 times the shipping as you would have had to pay the shipping from them to you the first time, the shipping from you to them and most likely from them to you again.

Honestly, if there's a problem with the guitar, It's not worth shipping the guitar back. If a part is f**ked up then get them to ship the part, if it's a scratch deal with it. 90% of the guitars sold by real Japanese guitar shops are displayed in their stores, vary rarely do you ever truly get one FRESH, UNOPENED in a box.

Budd,
do you know around how much tax+duty+shipping I would have to pay importing something like a RG8427 (210 000 Yen) from Ikebe to Canada?
Let me know!
Thanks...

In Ontario you're looking at 20%-21% for duty and taxes, other provinces will vary. Shipping you'd have to check with Ikebe. There's also a two bank wire fees plus an international fee/commission that you have to pay to order from Ikebe. The exact amount I don't know as you'll have to check with Ikebe, but you'll have to pay at least $30 to get your bank to do the wire transfer to them(you also have to pay them to accept your bank wire transfer).

(Shipping a guitar from Japan costs roughly $200).

Re: Ikebe Question

When I try to 'order' from them (at least follow the process) my browser kind of crashes. Is there any specific way to order in English?

Re: Ikebe Question

I ordered from ishibashi, but I think its still relevant

Shipping was 16,000 yen. I'm not sure if this included taxes or whatever, but I never received a bill for import duties in the mail. It was either included or I never paid it, this has also been the case for HC guys buying edwards or fender japan from ishibashi. Not sure if this is the same for canada

To order from ikebe (or ishibashi) just email them with a link to the guitar you want explaining that your are in america and want to buy a guitar
