Impulse buy - Sign me up in the RGT Club!

Stopped by GC after work with NO intention of buying anything...just to snoop around. *And there it was, the same RGT3120DB that I played at the guitar show a couple weeks ago. *Next thing I know I'm walking out with it (Honey, guess what??). *Feel like a spoiled kid at Christmas. *Have a gander...

http://photos.yahoo.com/gkelm

Really impressed...just as everyone else has been. *Lovely and classy. *Same neck profile as my "TX Prestige" (feels nice, but I'm tempted to take 0000 steel wool to it from the volute to the fade). **The guitar is bright and punchy--not sure if that's the extra maple, neck through contruction, the pups, or all of the above. *I generally have not liked the PAF-Pro in the neck, but it's not too bad in the bridge, might try AN/TZ. *

Wish list: OK, this is silly with such a nice guitar, but here goes:
- Flamed maple binding on the neck
- unstained scraped binding on body
- ebony fretboard
- maybe a 42mm nut (jury is deliberating on this one)
- but then again, Ishibashi has a JC like this in VV

Now to figure out what has to go in order to be able to keep this!

Seriously dark flame, and from all angles! Who could resist that?! Surely your wife can see that

Thanks guys, I feel blessed. *Rich, my wife is out of town so I just sent her the URL. *Her reply: "that's great...very nice...good choice." *Ha! *There are a couple angles where the flame falters a bit, but no complaints. *This one steers far clear of the "driftwood" catagory.

That's probably the first RG i've seen that would (almost) make me buy on impulse as well... she's a beauty!

If it were a quilt top with unstained binding, you'd probably have to pry the VISA card out of my hand.

Wow Greg very nice. I rather like the look of yours.

Do find that from certain angles that the flame is kind of hard to see? I find it hard to get a good side shot were both sides of the top look good. Also I would have to say the neck profile is about the same as my 1880 and that I am also thinking about sanding the gloss *down. But as far as the pickups I was also thinking about a air norton and a tone zone. I have already put the tone zone in and it was a big improvment in my book, it made the guitar a lot smoother to my ears. The guitar is still a bit brighter than my other guitars with tone zones. But sounds alittle tighter than the others too.

I hope you have a good time with your rgt3120

Hey Gary- There are a couple angles where the flame starts to wash out a bit, but overall this one is very good. *Glad to hear the TZ tightens thing up...I should do that as well.

You have a USRG30, right? *Is that as bright or brighter than the RGT?

That is one damn gorgeous guitar, I love it. I hope they make a seven string version of this guitar. So far, its the best ibanez I have seen (other than the RG ART and JPM P1).

Looks like the VSBL will have to wait. The RGT will be my next purchase.
Congrats!

Thanks y'all. *TA...too funny, they can't have it.

GP...I put 09s on it.

I just noticed something interesting. *A closer look at the NAMM show shots makes me think this might be the same guitar? *See what you think.
