Info wanted about an RG?

Hi Jemsite experts,

I bought a second-hand Ibanez about 20 years ago. It is an RG with serial number F753252. Made in Japan.

Can anyone give me any info about it e.g. model, year of manufacture etc?

Thanks :-)

Oh, and its bright orange/red - I presume that is Road Flare Red ;-)

I call it Dynorod Red ;-)

Re: Info wanted about an RG?

I can't remember exactly when it was that I bought it but it was at least 20 years ago. I was walking past the old Sound Control music shop on St Mary's Street (just off the Royal Mile, Edinburgh) when my eye caught this outrageously loud guitar. I went in and tried it out. It had grimy old strings and a crap setup but it still felt, sounded and looked great. I remember the staff trying to sell me a new Jackson or Charvel but they just seemed dull in comparison - in every way ;-)

Re: Info wanted about an RG?

Its not in great condition...

The previous owner(s) must have hands like sandpaper because there is a lot of fretboard wear - it was like that when I got it and has not got any worse since.

There are a couple of cracks in the neck at the back of the locking nut and the body has a few bashes.

One of the bridge post screws is broken.

I bought a new RG2570Z-DSP which is now my main guitar but this baby still gets the occasional airing ;-)

Re: Info wanted about an RG?

Thank you, Takin' a Ride,

May I ask how you know it is 1987?

Do you know what pickups are in it?

Re: Info wanted about an RG?

The serial number is a silver sticker starting with a "7". It can't be anything other than an '87 or very early '88.

Pickups are V1 (neck)- S1 (middle)- V2 (bridge)
