What about the "CUSTOM MADE" fretboard inlay on early 90s hiend MIJ models? Precursor to J-Custom/Prestige tags?

I have 3 Jems, a Universe, and a J-Custom. The J-Custom's playability is significantly better than all of the aforementioned. Of course, this is only my personal experience!

Re: J-Custom & Prestige confusion - What makes a J-C a J-C?

Taken from a question and answer thread with Jim Donahue. (2005)

Hi Jim,

Are the J custom guitars made in the same factory as their sister Prestige and standard model in Fujigen ?

It depends on the year. As of 2002 the Hirooka Custom shop that the J customs where made at merged into the main factory at Sunwood about 1hour from Fujigen, Sunwood is the sister company of Fuji and Fuji purchased a large quantity of the stock and moved the Hirooka Custom shop there.

Hiroka was the Custom shop and they made all the Customs, Jems. JS's and hollow bodies, But that was closed whne Fuji Downsized. Now really everything Fuji makes is High End. All the wood working is Done at the Sunwood facility and then sent out for paint and assembly to Matsumoto at Fuji's main plant.

Re: J-Custom & Prestige confusion - What makes a J-C a J-C?

The guys from Polyphia were probably in middle school when this thread started. They come home from school and started practicing on their Indonesian RG. This went on till they became so good and actually start to create their own music. Few years later, Ibanez then contacted them and agreed for an endorsement. They now can have any Ibanez they want be it J-custom, LA custom, prestiges, premiums or even signatures and yet the guys here are still arguing on which is better, after which, they will take out their precious J custom from the case, plug it in, play the enter sandman riff and call it a day.
