Question Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

Ima buy a new guitar soon, but which of these guitar do you think is greatest.

Jackson dk2:

Alder body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fretboard, seymour duncan Jb bridge pup and 2 seymour duncan single pups which i can't remember which on it is. H-S-S config anyway. Jackson JT580 trem.

Ibanez rg1570:
Basswood body, bolt on maple neck, rosewood fretboard, V7,V8 pickups and something else in the middle position. Ibanez edge pro trem. H-S-H config.

jackson Dk2s:
Alder body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fretboard, seymour duncan Jb bridge pup and 1 seymour duncan single pup and a sustainiac in the neck position. Jackson JT580 trem. H-S-S config.

If I buy the Jackson DK2 I will replace it with an original floyd rose (OFR).

I can't aford switching anything on the others. The Dk2s I will change the pickups maybe, and with the Ibanez rg1570 i can't aford to buy the pickup when i buy the guitar which sucks.

I'm not able to try any of the guitars so hope you guys can help me.

Re: Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

If you get the RG1570, you won't need to replace the trem. The Edge pro kicks the OFR's ass.

I vote RG1570. And I'm not biased simply because this is an Ibanez forum. I love Jackson's just as much as Ibanez's. But I wholeheartedly believe that the RG1570 is better then the Jackson DK2.

As for changing pickups, you won't need to with the V7, S1, V8 combo. They're not the best by any means but they're a very usable, versatile combo. I had mine in my RG1527 (7 string but it was the same pickups. Just a 7 string version) for well over a year and never once felt a change was needed.

I agree with D.M.RG7620 - I played a DK2 in the music store and the neck did not feel nearly as nice to me as a Wizard neck - but the RG 1570 is probably the most expensive of the 3....but if you can afford it I would go for the RG...

Re: Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

My vote would be for the 1570 as well because on paper it beats the jackson. The edge pro is better than these new jackson JT580lp (the old jt590's and jt580 were very nice) and the necks are worlds apart. If you like thin and flat necks, you'll be happier with the wizard. The jackson neck, is very charvelesque. It's a fat feel with a nice flat back profile. It's not that much thicker, but you feel more meat in your hand when you grasp the neck.

Now I have experience with both the prestige Ibanez's and Jackson MIJ's . I want to recommend the 1570, Even though I've owned a lot of Jackson imports ( 3 DK2's, 1 DK2M , 1 KE-3, 1 90's soloist pro), I like the craftmanship of the prestige Ibanez better. That said, I've owned a 1570 and i never jived with it. It was an impulse buy because i always thought it would live up to my older MIJ 550's and 570's, but it didnt. The first reason, the pick-ups sounded stale and incapable of producing the amount of dynamics and personality my older 87-89's did. Bizarre, considering they are supposed to be the same pick-ups, but age can affect pick ups too. The other thing is, they just look ugly. Dot inlays, uninteresting finish options.

The thing about the DKs... well they are just a ton of fun to play. You can feel that it's not exactly a sophisticated instrument, but that raw feel is what makes it fun to play. The pick ups are miles ahead of the v series ibanez pick ups. Not to mention, they just sound great in those alder body Jacksons. Finally, the finish options are what's fun. You can get them in virtually anything from solid colors, to metallics, trans with flame veneers and a whole bunch of graphics. I've had one alpine white, two skull n' bones graphic , 1 trans green flamed maple and 1 trans red flamed maple. They looked great, and i had so much fun playing them.

So at the end of the day, if you like playing fast, want a guitar that suits you in style and want to pay a fair price for it, go with the Jackson.

However, On paper and in anyone's book, the Ibanez Rg1570 is a better guitar. Maybe you will have a better experience with it than I did. All my other prestiges were a lot of fun. (Jem's, S2020x,Rg2550)

I would go with the RG1570, Do a magnet swap on the V8/V7 pups, and you will not need new ones, period!

Re: Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

Kinda old but this should be the "Final Word" I own both a RG-1570L and a DK2L and both are fantastic.. I find the Ibanez w (dimarzio evolutions added) better at metal and the edge to be a better trem. BUT I find the Dinky a better go to guitar to play anything out of the box.. no pickup swap. I like the fact you can play the jackson without turning up the volume and gain. I like the 1570 more however when I want too. So what I am basically saying if you were gonna only own 3 guitars these would be 2 of them. I still play the crap out of the tele...

Re: Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

I vote for the Ibanez 1527 also. The Jackson is nice too but the trem isnt close to the edge on the Ibby. If you replace the JT580 with an OFR, the nut wont work, too tall, so you will have to use the stock Jackson one unless you shave down the nut shelf. The trem anchors are also larger than the Jackson ones so you will have to drill out the holes or use the cheaper Jackson ones. The prestige neck to me is better and like others said, the quality on the prestige line is excellent. Buy used pickups off ebay, lot cheaper than buying a floyd for the Jackson. Why change the pickups on the DK2S? Thats what people get that guitar for, the sustainer pickup.

having owned DK with sustainer before, I can say that thing is suck.
this thing only equal to korean RG. that's it. I even could not believe it was made in Japan.
but it's just me.

so 1570 win my vote. no contest.

Re: Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

Still have the DK2S?? I own an original 89-90(?) Satriani USA made ! An Ibanez Sabre & am currently close to completion on a D.I.Y. JEM Custom floral,LOL By custom I mean I've chosen an aqua./blue paisley pattern with small black, gold & somewhat of a bohemian look to it. However after watching Steve Via song " I Know You're Here" on a G3 video I was Overwhelmed by not only the tone of the fretless ( sustainer installed) neck but Via's creative prowess!! IMHO he is as innovative as EVH & Hendrix! As an 89 G.I.T. grad I.was privy to see the finest guitarist in the world. Upon rethinking ,I should add Alan Holdsworth as the 4th horseman! I think for the price $275 + shipping the DK2S is a perfect foray into the world of Sustainer guitars. I wanted to finish the JEM D.I.Y. before ANY more purchases but at the price I can't refuse! Well this may be to long for acceptance,we'll see?

Re: Jackson Dk2 vs Ibanez rg1570 vs jackson dk2s

Yeah, I wanted a DK2S once, but it was pretty poor. The trem is very low quality, and wouldn't stay in tune. Strange feeling neck, but that's subjective. Only good thing about it was the sustainer. They are equal to the RG350.

So, if you want a sustainer, buy a dirt-cheap (but incredible) RG570 used, they often are in the 200s range. Then buy a sustainiac kit - which are about 250. Less price then the dk2 and you get a much better guitar!
