yeah

because the one they put on is absolute bollox and never keeps in tune when I use it

would there be much modding or is there and alternative??

It can be done. It may require routing. I'm modding an LTD M-100 from the TRS style to an OFR and had to adjust the cavity for it to fit properly...

and what is routing??

does that mean I have to hack away at my guitar to get a Floyd rose into it??

Aren't these TRS types of trems supposed to be directly swapable with an OFR.

if your RR has a JT580 in it, i think an OFR should fit but there will be a slight gap because the JT580 has a slightly larger baseplate. It's possible that the locking screws of the OFR will be too long and hit the body. If i were you, i'd visit the jackson/charvel forum (www.jcfonline.com) and ask them cuz all i'm telling here is some stuff i've read over there.
