Jap neck thru's?

Hey folks.

Does Ibanez make a neck thru now? I mean a prestige or japanese made guitar that's a neck thru? I used to see them for sale, but they have so many models now I can't keep up.

If so, or even if they used to, do you happen to have the models? I'd especially like to find a used one with a hardtail bridge.

I definitely don't qualify as a person who is really familiar with Ibanez as a whole, and not sure if there are any they are making now although I would guess so, but the only neck-thrus that I know of with a fixed bridge are the SZ's (discontinued). They weren't Japanese made though. The '86 Pro-lines were Japanese neck-thrus but not fixed bridge.

From Ibanez:

Modern neck-thru guitar models are the RGT models (T for 'thru') and several X series guitars such as the DTT700, ICT700 and XPT700.

The SZ's are a set neck, but the heel is shaped to give the feel of a neck-thru.

I see. Maybe that explains part of the reason they are so inexpensive?

That and they're made in Korea. Great guitar if you change the pickups. I have a MoJoe and PAF Joe in mine at the moment. Talk about sweet!

Re: Jap neck thru's?

the prestige line of the sz series.... the earlier ones were made in Japan and were neck through. the SZ series was i think the first prestige line to be made in korea.... while the run of the mill set neck sz's were always MIK.....

i like my white sz. i was never a fan of the duncan designed pups but many were.... i put in some ibz usa f1's and they sound great in it....
