Re: JPM P1, P2, P3, P4 -What's the difference?

Actually I think theres a diffrence in the pickups. I belive the first editions came with Steve's Special/Air Norton combo...and later he got his own custom DiMarzios...but I don't know this for sure.

But other then that the guitars should be built alike.

EDIT:

According to Ibanezregister.com the P1 and P2 had Air Norton in the neck...and Steve's Special in the bridge. On the P3 and P4 the DiMARZIO SFP are listed as the bridge pickup.

The JPM 90 HAM has the Steve's Special listed as bridge pickup...so I don't know

All JPM's had Steve's Special in the bridge but some early versions of P1 had different neck pu Norton Lite if I remember correctly.

Might wanna actually check the Ibanez catalogs. Should have ALL been Air Norton & Steve's Specials. The only differences between the main (4) JPM models would be the finishes. The 90th is the only spec change really with the top, etc.

I went through my Petrucci archives and the September 1995 Guitar World has a review of the P1 and it lists the pickups as Air Norton and Steve's Special.

I think the SFP was a trial name for the Steve's Special standing for Steve's Favourite Pickup.

OK. Sort of my first post in this forum and you guys have really been helpful. thanks. The thing is I found two JPM P4's here in sweden. Both sellers wanted 10.000 SEK (about 1250$), so I guess thats a pretty reasonable price then? (Note: A new jem7wh costs about 3500$ here.) best regards/eddie
