First of all, excuse me for the mediocre English, I'm not from the US...!
The MTM-2 I ordered came in today, so I picked it up immediately. I asked the guitar shop to tune it to D, and to replace the 'seven' truss rod cover (I'm really NOT into slipknot).
Well, I've been playing it for a few hours now, and I love it
When I got it, the fretboard was kind of dry, so I polished it with some fretboard oil. It looked and felt much better afterwards. I think the fretboard looks great, because of the lack of inlays. I really like the simplicity.
Just after I ordered it, I heard a lot of bad things about Indonesian Ibanez's, so I payed some extra attention to the overal finishing of the guitar.
The rosewood used for the fretboard looks good, there are no glue stains or whatever. The bindings are okay too, looks exactly the same on my RG2610!
The fixed Edge 3 works fine (well, I've only used it for a few hours of course), and all the other hardware seems fine as well.
Actually, the only thing that doesn't look good are the cavities on the back of the guitar (they have been cut out kind of sloppy). But hey, it's just the back.
So, overall I think the finishing is pretty good. It's not as good as a prestige, but it comes close.
I'm still going to replace the V pickups with a DiMarzio X2n in the bridge position (I play stuff like Death and Necrophagist, sounds really good for that kind of music) and probably a PAF Pro in the neck position. Not that the V's aren't any good, but I'm just looking for a kind of specific sound.
Well, back to playing it for another few hours!
