Somehow, right? Mine has one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played on an Ibanez. I couldn't believe how good it felt.
Guys, cut it out Man, I should just buck up and buy one myself already, still less than 900 new, can't complain about that....

Honestly, Jim, I'm fighting Loomis gas right now. I'd rather let the C7 Blackjack I have go, because I REALLY like the neck on the 1527, but if I crack, well, you'll be the first person I tell.

My 7321 is ok, though I get this feeling a Dean Razorback 7 or Schecter 7 would be better overall...

Well, any company would make a better 7 -- just not for that price. Ibanez makes great 7's even though everyone at ss.org spooges over the Loomis. the 7321 is just a budget model after all. For what it is, I dig it.

I've got a RG7420 and it plays great - the neck is superb very similar in section to my RG550.

Re: Just tried the RG 7321... and I HATED it

The first 7 I ever had was an '03 7321. The neck had a good profile, but the neck itself was very weak, i could apply pressure to the back of the neck at the nut while playing, and do dive bombs ala randy rhodes style. I thought it was a good playing guitar, until I bought an '03 UV777BK from Rich and it played the crap out of the 7321. The fretwork on the 7321 was absolutely horrible in comparison, and the whole guitar was just cheap feeling, and sounding in comparison. The tuners were absolutely horrible and the neck was really weak, but the guitar had a really harsh sound that I sometimes miss, I think it was the powersound 7 pickups. I would buy a set of those and put them in a beater project or something just for fun, but other than that the 7321 I had was pretty much not the best guitar, but fun. They are however a good option for somebody looking to try out a 7 string without a big commitment, and with a good set-up im sure like most ibanez guitars, they can be made to play like a dream. They are a good starter 7, or a good gigging guitar, especially considering the hardtail. I haven't played a more recent indonesian model, but I think for the money it would be more wise to look for a 7620 that isn't too beat up.

I know what you mean - I will always be a 6 string player at heart - but if it was going that way I would just go the whole 9 yards with a UV777Bk or something like that.

Re: Just tried the RG 7321... and I HATED it

The old UV necks are well different, try one of those, there's something about them.

In any case, the 7321 necks aren't bad, but not a patch on the old UV ones. New UV necks, well, not a massive fan, they're ok.

Re: Just tried the RG 7321... and I HATED it

Well, going from a 6 string to a 7 is pretty hard if you've never played a 7 before.
When I got my 7 is was soooo wierd (although i got a schecter diamond series 7 and not a big ibanez fan when it comes to 7's) but once you get used to it then the 7 can be your good friend
P.S. it took me about 2 weeks to get used to my 7 but its much more worth it and it feels so wierd going back to 6's

RG 7321 is ok in terms of price/performance, but you can never compare it to universes or high-end rg's.
