King V's - ...named for Kerry King?

Are King V's called this due to Kerry King, b/c i know that's what he plays... * I know he's been back and forth w/ ESP and BC Rich (currently w/ Rich i believe), but i suppose he could have played Jacksons at one time, or they could have named it that after him... *

or maybe it's a coincidence! * Jackson web guy never emailed me back about it. * *you guys have any idea!?!?

King V's

Named after Kerry King? In a word, NO. Jackson named the guitar "King V" to designated it from the "Rhoads V" and to emphasize that the guitar was a bigger interpretation of the original Gibson V design. Since it is larger, or "king size", the King V name was given.

King V is the name of the signature model of Dave Mustaine, the leader of Megadeth.

A really good guitar indeed !!!!

* * yeah, his was the kv-1, which had a khaler fixed bridge, instead of a floyd. * it's not in production this year, just the kv-2 (the one w/ the floyd). *Now he plays the y2kv, which in my opinion is ugly. *it's basically a gibson V w/ 24 frets. *
* * and thanks butch, for the answer!

King V's

I'm not sure, but I think Robbin Crosby from Ratt helped design them due to his large size. He was the first I saw playing one back in the 80's.

* * *yeah, i was reading somewhere, i think jackson/charvel world, that the Ratt guy played king v's and also had a few custom "double rhoads" made - that is, they looked like king v's, but the fins were actually the length of the longer of the two V's of a rhoads.
* * *and i forgot that it was Mustaine who had them start making 24 fret kv's. * before him they were 22.
