Knife Edge Trems

How long usually does it take until a knife edge on the trem wears out? This is my only concern buying used guitars with the Edge, Edge Pro, Lopro, etc.

Re: Knife Edge Trems

I've only heard of major problems with edges about 93/94 back but that could be a redesign problem as well.

Re: Knife Edge Trems

Depends on the previous owners actually, how heavy they use it, how well they set it up, how well they take care of them. If you're targeting one of those great trems, chances are that it'll probably hold for quite long.

Re: Knife Edge Trems

My Edge III has held up incredibly well with just a little Hoppes on the knife edges. And a little sanding on them every now and then.

LOL...my original edge has held up for 17 years. I've sharpened nothing. I've used it quite a bit. It stays in tune just like the day I bought it, 17 years ago.

Impressive.
