Les Paul prototype and Neal Schon

In the October Guitar One Neal Schon has a Les Paul prototype with what appears to be a Floyd Rose and a more accessible neck joint. If anyone hears anything else about this thing, please post it.

As far as I know, Neal has modded his Les Paul beyond anything I've ever seen. He's probably the only one playing a Les Paul with a Floyd. Not sure it's a prototype...

He's also been using some PSR single cuts modded similarly + sustainers...

I just saw Journey about a month ago (great show) and Neil played nothing but Les Pauls, with wammy and sustainers. Oh yeh, ONE song with a PRS......

Here's what he says about it in the magazine:

Quote-
Interviewer: Is that a new Les Paul?

Neal: Yeah, I just got this last night. It's a new prototype, where there's no hump at the neck joint anymore; you can reach the 22nd fret effortlessly. It's got a Floyd Rose; a Fernades Sustainer in the neck pickup and a '57 Plus in the bridge.
-end Quote

I'm just wondering if it's a prototype from the Gibson Custom shop or if someone modded it. You can clearly see the back on the largest photo and it looks very nice.

Sounds interesting...couldn't find anything on the Gibson site, but I would think something like that might be custom shop, esp. since he used the term "prototype." Looks like they took a hint from the Artist series.
