Life Is A Beach

I just picked up a 1991 metallic green RBM-1 from a friend.

It plays well and has excellent sustain. It's not a "2" with fancy koa and stuff, but it's pretty cool. The locking trem says "licensed by Floyd Rose".
Dot inlays on a rosewood board over a maple neck with AANJ and H/S/S configuration.

I can't find much info on this guitar- can anyone help me out??

Thanks.

Re: Life Is A Beach

Pics coming as soon as I find the damn connecting cord to the PC.
BTW- It's BLUE says my wife. And it has a gold mirror thin slanted pickguard
with one knob and a 5 position switch. serial F149258.

Can anyone help out with info on the model?

Re: Life Is A Beach

Here's a link to the first catalog appearance of the guitar you are describing, courtesy of Rich Harris' Ibanez Rules site:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1994/94008.jpg

According to the catalogs, blue RBMs appeared in 1991, with an Edge trem but without the pickguard. In 1992, the blue came with a pickguard but had an Edge tremolo. In 1993, blue was not an option.

It appears that the first year the Voyager came with a TRS trem is 1994 with the Emerald Green color option. In 1995, the only model available with the TRS was black. 1995 was not only the year that Reb's hair went flat, but also the last year they made the RBM. You may have a serial number / neck that was left over from a previous year.

It also seems that Winger's album sales were in a slump, which must have caused Reb to fire his landscapers in 1995. It looks like the sneakers he's wearing in the pic above are the ones he wore when he mowed the lawn.

This is a long-winded way of saying that I think you have a 1994 RBM10EG.

Enjoy!

Re: Life Is A Beach

I say early '92 blue one, with a lo pro and a early serial number...

The TRS says Ibanez on it, not just "Licensed..." like the one mentioned

Ahh, yes you may be right.

Its been a while since I have seen a TRS, but I don't recall any of the early models saying anything other than "licensed under FR...."

Bottom line is the trem - a pic or confirmation of the type of trem would put this one to rest.
