a little info on the rg770 original

just wondering if anyone had information on this guitar including it s inception whether or not they all had pick gaurds ....ive have seen 91 models and an 89 model with no pick gaurd can this be ?in color black? any feed back much appreciated.

No RG770 had a pickguard*. The version with a pickguard is the RG750.

(*The RG770DX was fitted with a pickguard. Maple neck with colormatching inlays sets it apart from the "normal" RG770.)

Hi, I have an original '91 RG770DX. It's maple neck and board with matching color sharktooth inlays, transparent pickguard, ibz f2. f4 and c3 pups made by Dimarzio and the guitar is backed routed. ohh and an edge trem....

I think he means, the RG770 does NOT have a pickguard..which is right...the one(s) with where the 750, 760, and 770DX

Old school RG760s don't have pickguards.

that is some good info guys, anyone know what the first year of the 770 dx was it 87 0r 91 ?

The RG7xx guitars started in 1989(at least in the US), and the RG770DX's first year was 1991.

here are my 770DX's...note the clear pickguard and color matched pickups and inlays...


and my RG770 PN, the later model with the direct mount pickups:
