LNG 550 revisted

Anyone remember this little project?

After the last wiring gremlin made me want to pull a Pete Townsend this this thing, I finally pulled it out of the case and redid everything.

Yes, I took off the pearl guard, and had planned to try a plain white guard, but when my 8 year old picked up the black guard and said "this one daddy", I caved.

Anyway, it is all together, the wiring sorted, and it is now a keeper.

Re: LNG 550 revisted

I'd have to agree with your kid, the black is better.

Did you have to fill up the original jack hole before making the Jem style jack ?

Looks like a tasty axe

Ive always wanted a Neon blue Jem or 550 kinda like this

No, all new alder body courtesy of Chris Woods.

Now that is a kick ass color scheme.

Re: LNG 550 revisted

Looks great in pink for sure.

I bought a regular ol' 550 that was another members project gone wrong, and then had Chris Woods cut me a body from alder.

I sold off everything but the neck and trem, and then sent the neck/body to Patrick Sims. Unfortunately Patrick took over a year to get this painted, and I still got it back with flaws in the paint.

Originally I think I tried a Tone Zone/Air Norton combo, but it just did not sound right. I had trouble getting it set up the way I wanted, and the whole thing just did have a good "feel".

The wiring gremlin popped up when I swapped in the new pups, and that is when I gave up on it. I did put it up for sale at that point, but thankfully no one bought it.

When I pulled it back out, I had forgotten what pups I had put in there, but then I remembered I wanted to try something different pickup wise, so I put a Super Distortion in the bridge, and an EVO in the neck.

This time I went back and redid the neck, wiring, and set up. I spent about an hour playing it last night, and I am pleased with it.

This weekend I will put the strap on, and it will be done. I have too many unfinished guitar projects, and I just bought another from Rich, so I have to get these knocked out.
