lo-pro edge= drop C?

hello

im wanting to get an older ibby 6 string (preferably rg570) with the lo-pro edge and im told it doesnt handle drop C and lower very well. can anybody tell me how i could do it or if it can be done at all while still having the trem set right?

thanks

Re: lo-pro edge= drop C?

Whoa, where did you hear this?

I have an 89 RG570 in Drop C.
I have a 90 RG550 in Drop C.
And my PGM is tuned a full step down.

They all play just fine. Never drop sharp or flat after trem action either. I didnt do anything different than what i did to my Jackson to put it in drop C.

Re: lo-pro edge= drop C?

with the right gauge strings, it should be fine...all of my rg's are drop c or tuned to d...no problem if you set it up right...i didn't have to add or change the trem springs either...three paralell, just like stock...rock on

It will work just fine. Consider the source of that poor info, then realize where you're getting this good info......

Re: lo-pro edge= drop C?

I use to drop my old rg down to b tuning. You just need to adjust the trem springs and use heavy gauge strings. No issues.

Re: lo-pro edge= drop C?

I use 9 - 46 actually and just adjust the strings accordingly.

I like the amount of bend i can get with a 9 but I think dropping lower than C would just be too loose for me.

I Used 10-52s for my Rg set for D standard/drop C and was perfect for it.

Re: lo-pro edge= drop C?

yea almost all my guitars have .10's (regular slinkys) and my 7 string has d'addario .10's (the B string, or A with my tuning, sounds horrible) so i think ill stick with the 10's. just seein all your opinions and advise. thanks guys or girls who helped me, i feel safe with a '98 rg570 now. and any1 here with one, does yours have the sharktooth inlays? mine does and all i ever see it the dots. i checked the stamp on the neck, its from a 570

10's are borderline for drop c, try 11's. I am actually going to try a set of ghs boomers that are gauged for drop tuning, they have a 11-12 range on the low 3 and a 9-10 range on the high 3, forget what they are called, but check their website.

Re: lo-pro edge= drop C?

more expensive than ernie balls? because i like the sound of that. tighter play on the lower strings, better bends on the higher
