Unhappy Lo TRS help

I just bought a used Ibanez that has a Lo TRS trem. The trem is a dark finish not shiny metalic. The whammy bar that was in the case silver not black and is threaded to screw in. When I put the bar in the trem it just falls in. I don't see any threads inside the whammy bar hole in the trem. Yet all the research I do on the internet states that a Lo TRS trem has a screw in bar. Mine looks like the kind that pops in.

Anyone know what might be going on here?

Re: Lo TRS help

It looks like someone gave you the wrong bar. I used to have a RG 450 that had a TRS and it had the type of bar that had a screw down collar around the base of the bar.

Re: Lo TRS help

I know it's the wrong bar. I'm confused as to why the Lo TRS on my guitar has a pop-in bar slot instead of the screw in slot like everything on the web says this trem should have.

Re: Lo TRS help

A pic would help. I am under the impression that all TRS had the collar too. Joshua

Re: Lo TRS help

So, the bar for your Lo-TRS pops in?
Maybe you got the TRS bar, but a different trem bridge?
Cuz most TRS are in chrome, whereas TRS-II are in black, mostly.

(do correct me if im wrong)

What do you mean by "collar"?
I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Yes, I think the bar pops in. I don't see any threads in the hole.
My TRS is black but it doesn't say TRS II on it. Just TRS.

Re: Lo TRS help

Here are some images. What kind of Ibanez do you think it is? What about my bridge questions?

Re: Lo TRS help

I'd say it's an MIJ RG470. They came with a LO-TRS (not LO-TRS II) which is built out of slightly better metals than the II, and it's got the V series pickups.

Re: Lo TRS help

MIJ-Made In Japan. MIJ RGs came with LO TRS, mostly. Korean RGs have TRS-II on them. That trem o your guitar is definitely a TRS.

So, the bar has threads on them, but when you put it in, it just falls in? I think your threads inside the bridge is missing.

Re: Lo TRS help

Yes, the bar just falls in. It's not the original bar either. The bar is chrome but my TRS is black.

Who knows....maybe I'll just replace the bridge eventually.

It's a sweet playing axe though!

Do that , you can do a direct swap with the an original Floyd Rose trem.
