Re: lookin for a 7 string

Nevermind on that.... went 25 miles down to dallas to try it out....
what a piece of junk for the money... if it was $299. I wouldnt even buy it. I also tried a Schecter Hellraiser... FN junk as well. I guess you have to spend at least $ 2500. to get a decent guitar anymore.

Re: lookin for a 7 string

I love my 1527.
One of the best guitars I have since 1986.
I set its action to almost 0 and no buzzes, always in tune.
2500 + 2 d activatoirs 7 ( 300 usd ) = 2800 dollars hahahahahahahahaha
Amazing guitar and 900 dollars is almost for free lol

Guitar Center never sets anything up. The RG1527 and Schecter Hellraiser are both awesome guitars, dude. Don't discount them until you've tried one that's actually been taken care of.

Thers 3 guitar centers in my area and they only have 1 or 2, 7 strings in stock, no selection. The 1527 was the only posible guitar I would consider.
It was really dirty, with greasy hand prints all over it like 200 people
had been playing on it. It was so out of tune it took me like 10 minutes
to get the old wore out strings in tune. But I just didnt like the neck at all.
And im sure it could have been set up better.
I really like the Schecter Jeff Lomis 7 string on paper but I wish I could try 1 out.
Im not just going to order a guitar with out playing it live and person.

If that's the guitar you want, order one from Rich. He might havwe a maple boarded one left as well - couldn't hurt to ask him.

Re: lookin for a 7 string

You cant blame the dirtyness and crappy setup on the guitar, its the shops fault.

Re: lookin for a 7 string

In my quest to find a 7 string I tried a Jackson COW and fell in love with
the neck and fretboard, would have bought it but they wanted too much.
So today I just ordered a Jackson SLAT 3-7...... dual EMG pick ups.....
Floyd Rose...... gun metal grey..... with Jackson case. All for the same
price as the COW. Made in Japan.

Re: lookin for a 7 string

I love this guitar, I knew 5 minutes after taking out of the box that it
wouldnt be going back to GC. Its absoulutely flawless and plays like a
dream. The neck is very similar to the COW I played... the radius starts
out flat near the headstock and becomes more conical the farther you
go up toward the 24 fret. It was set up with 10's and Im used to 9's but
the tone is excellent so I will probably go get a set of Earnie Ball 10's.
The PUP's are killer when cranked up... Those meaty chords using the
low B string as a root just sustain forever. The rosewood fretboard is
very shiny almost like it has a finish or something and the neck is bound...
All 3 PU positions are very useable, the middle position is nice for chords
and the neck position is killer sweet for smooth creamey lead.
