Looking for help w/midi-synth guitars

Hello,

I'm trying to look at different options for a midi/synth guitar. So far it seems like the best quality guitar for the price is the Godin XTsa but I've never seen one in person. I've looked at just adding a Roland GK-3 to one of my current guitars but I think it just looks obtrusive on the front of any guitar! Plus, the reviews aren't that great.

So I'm asking if anyone has any good suggestions for an affordable package (under 1500) for both a guitar and a synth unit? I'm new to this technology so I don't want to buy more than I need for my limited application (or just to have fun).

Thanks!

I had a Brian Moore and the quality was outstanding. They are pretty cheap used. It was a handmade in korea. neck through. Solid piece.

The GK-3 is fine, yes I know it's a bit obtrusive, but it works well,

and if you like the result you can fit the GK kit inside one of your guitars.

You'll need a floor controller too, the GR-20 comes with the GK-3 and is about $800.

Re: Looking for help w/midi-synth guitars

I had the GR20 & GK3. It was very bad to fit well and using the tail-stop to support it was a joke - it vibrated badly due to the posts were at angles to the plate. I attached it to a JetKing1 with srews into the body. However, the GK3 is plastic and it broken under pressure from my palm. The speed of it was just ok and fine for adding sustained hammond chords behind my playing. But extremely hard work to use live to switch it on/off and operate the GR20. I could do a great job but it left me at times jumping between this and my midi foot controller. It was like the arcade dancing game!
I heard the hex pickups are faster than midi. Pay 4 what you get.

I did this
It was the best option I could come up with

Graphtec Floyed type bridge
and the midi hexpander
sans pickups
beats anything you buy I will tell you
combine this with a AXE 50 and your set to control anything you can name.
oh yea this is a rg550 MIJ forget the year bought it for 700.00
all told maybe $1800. for everything mentioned above

These are all excellent ideas...thanks! I completely overlooked the Brian Moore guitars! Manticore, that RG looks amazing! I love my RG's so that would be a perfect solution too.
