Loving my 1550M

Got it back from my tech all set up with the Gravity Storm in the bridge, Evo in the neck and Virtual Vintage in the middle. Swapped the trem arm assembly for a Schaller.
this thing rips , one of the most comfortable necks I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

Re: Loving my 1550M

Yours is the Edge Pro, isn't it? The EZ version is really nice too. I am gonna take out the ZPS tomorrow and play it without it.

Mine has a GS bridge, GS neck, and the stock S1 in the middle. Positions 2 and 4 are AMAZING for blues

Re: Loving my 1550M

yes mine is the Edge Pro I got it from MeesterSparkle in Japan, it's almost in NOS condition
I may swap out the Evo neck for the GS neck , I had one in a 550 and really liked it. The Evo neck is "good" but not inspiring LOL!

Sweet

I got mine from a local shop here in Nagoya called Aikyoku. The EZ/ZPS version was never released in Japan, so I got it as an outlet piece. First MIJ ibanez and I still keep it close by and play it (when I'm not using my Raodcore or Carvin JB200). Mine is also Phantom blue, and I've gotten lots of compliments about it over the years.

I hope you keep rocking that thing out, it's a wonderful guitar

Re: Loving my 1550M

I've had a few RG550's and a couple of 560's that I really liked but I find that the neck on this is slightly wider and thicker which I absolutely love. I am for the most part a Jackson/Charvel guy and the neck on this feels very similar to my Jacksons so it makes going back and forth between them effortless. I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.
I like it so much that I may try to track down a 1560 as well. there are 2 on Ebay right now if I can move my 560 (in the classifieds) I may grab one of them if I can talk the seller down a bit.

Hey, that's exactly what I love about the neck too It's a little meatier than a more recent prestige wizard neck and is just much easier to play. I actually have thought about getting an Edge Pro version also, just because I love the 1550

Gotta love the maple fretboard... I can't get enough of maple fb with non-matching headstock. Just so classy! =)

Very nice Kman- these are great guitars. Some zebra pups would look really good on there too...

Re: Loving my 1550M

These are really cool guitars. If I didn't have so many guitars already, this would be on my list. Although I love the Edge and Lo-Pro from a nostalgic perspective, I'm come think that the Edge Pro is my favorite trem for actually playing. I really like the feel of the raised saddle inserts under my hand. I feel like I have better control over palm muting on that trem.

Re: Loving my 1550M

I agree , I was playing mine for a couple of hours last night, and am really beginning to appreciate the neck on this guitar, it's incredibly comfortable
