Low B string gauge?

So I found a .62 to use as a low B. Upon tuning it up I can't help but feel like there's now too much tension. Anyone know what is a good gauge for a low B? I am keeping the pitch at B. The rest of my string set is .09-.46. I've seen threads about this before but couldn't find anything that cut to the chase when I searched.

Its all preference. I just put a set of GHS medium boomers on my 7 and I'm loving them. CHeck their site for the gauges

I don't have the box handy, but I use the DR Tite Fit 9's, whatever comes with the set is what I use. I think it's a 54 or 56. I'll look around for a set and edit with the right number.

Re: Low B string gauge?

For a set of 10's, .060 works perfect. Sits very well in line tensionwise with the rest. Perhaps you prefer even lighter tension - then go with .059.

Re: Low B string gauge?

When I bought my RG7620 years ago, the stock gauge for the Low B was 53 or 54.

Re: Low B string gauge?

.58 seems like it would be consistent with the gauge strings you use.

Re: Low B string gauge?

I use a 59. You don't want LESS tension on a low B than the E string, that's just stupid.

9, 12, 16, 24, 32, 44, 59.

Re: Low B string gauge?

I use a set of 9s with a 56 which matches perfectly tension wise to the 42. With 10s I use a 60/62 but Im usually in A standard with those.

Re: Low B string gauge?

Recently tried a set of D'addario EXL110-7 These are a normal 10-46 set plus a 59 for the B string. I really liked it.

Re: Low B string gauge?

i use the ernie ball packs that have bottom half 11, top half 10s and a 58 on the bottom.

ive no idea why manufacturers consider 52 to be a standard low b guage, its slack as ****
