Why didnt you just buy an RG?
Congratulations all the same. I like the flamed top and colour.
I never played an Ibanez before and started out on a strat and kinda fell for Fender guitar at the ripe age of 16. It's all I've know other than Godin guitars.
But as far as it goes for this guitar, i was looking for a guitar that had midi capability with a floating bridge. So called Fender and asked if they had anything like that. The lady on the phone said no but we could build it for you. I only thought Fender built guitars for Pros like Clapton and Mayer etc. She said if you have the money they can probably build it. LOL
So I thought of my dream guitar and what would it have. Sent the specs to a Master dealer and he sent it off to Fender to see if they could build it. They came back and said they could. So I had to make a 50% down payment, then 6 months later I got a call from John Cruz from Fender. Spent a good 40 minutes or so on the phone going over the specs. He made suggestions like the coil tapping and hardware etc. Awesome guy by the way. I lucked out in getting John as he's known for building for John Mayer, Malmsteen, The SRV Replica, Ike Turner and a slew of other big names.
All said and done I waited a couple of more months and got a call from John saying there was a problem.
He was doing the mockup of the body and found the holes to mount the GK pickup between the bridge and pickup was too close to the mounting poles of the bridge. Then he said he heard Graphtech was working on a system that retro fits into the Floyd bridge. They weren't readily on the market with them at the time but John was able to get them and thank god he did. You can't even tell there's midi pickup on the guitar. The GK would of stuck out like a sore thumb.
All together I waited about a year and a half for it. Nothing like having a guitar thats yours, built for you that no one else has. It's like my own signature guitar.
It sounds great through my Mesa Boogie on it's own through my floor effects, and works great with the VG-88 and 99. My only complaint with it is when using the VG system using the tremolo creates a lot of noise with patches that have a lot of gain.
Had a person one time ask me when I was playing it at a bar if the pickups were Dimarzio's. Crazy he could tell what they were by the tone.
Thats my story... getting the JS2410 (hopefully here in the morning at FedEx) so hopefully that'll make be an Ibanez convert
