Meshuggah Signature Ibanez 8 strings...

I don't know if this is true or not, or if you have already discussed this somewhere else, but I heard the other day that Meshuggah were currently doin a deal with Ibanez to release a signature 8 string Ibanez. It would b awesome, I personally wouldn't get one, don't really need the 8th string and the neck would b massive, but if it's true it will b interresting to see what they look like. I would definately try one c",)

Anyone else know anything about this?

Kim...

From the horses mouth.

Straight from the horses mouths....

We met the guys in Meshuggah Sunday night after an Off-Fest show here in town. They said that Ibanez and the guy that custom-made their 8 strings in Sweden are collaborating together to get them 8 string guitars. Since Ibanez sponsers them, they wanted to make sure that they weren't competing with each other. This sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!

We had a great time on Sunday!

We didn't get to see the mythical 8 strings but they told us that the top F/E string was a whopping .070 in size! And they generally play lighter strings in the first place.

that's the way to do it- get the person who's a major hand in the process to collaborate with the company. some guitar companies are snobs, they wouldn't wanna do such a collaboration.

I'm not a real big Meshuggah fan but if Ibanez made those a production model, I would be all over it.

Could someone re-post the pics of their non-Ibanez 8-strings? I need a good drooling.

You're not the luthier that made their custom 8 stringers are you?

What happened?
I also think that Ibanez have hard enough time shifting 7 stringers to go into production of 8, but who knows??

tsorovan?

he's not the luthier. he's just an old swedish bastard.
he's too decrepit to make guitars! haha j/k
if he was, his ass would be making my custom timdog deluxe guitar... complete with beercan holder and straw. with automatic strumming and automatic fretting-frets.

You forgot the retractable calculator for figuring out those even divisions of nested polymeters! Oh, and the mini gerbil-adorned machine heads. Those are my favourites.

yes you are wrong.
they played the custom 7-stringers with the same body style as the 8.
i believe they were made by the same guy. after ozzfest they will head back to sweden for 3 weeks to practice the Nothing material. then they will begin playing new material on the road with TOoL again..

You know, i REALLY like how those things look... Here's hoping if we don't get an 8-string signature, we get a 7.
