Mighty Mite Strat body + Warmoth neck???

I'm toying with the idea of building a Strat since I don't have one, and most Fender specs on the neck aren't to my liking.

I wanted to hear from people who may have built one using a Mighty Mite body and a Warmoth neck. Did the Warmoth neck fit the Mighty Mite body neck pocket ok, did the screw holes line up, etc?

Thanks

Not quite, the Mighty Mite necks aren't what I'm after.

I have 3 Warmoth necks (all awesome by the way) with one on a Warmoth strat body. Warmoth necks are built to fit Fender bodies so they are the exact same dimensions (neck pocket wise) and scale length as Fenders. As long as the Mighty Mite body is an exact Fender replacement copy then you should not have any issues. The screw hole really are no big deal. You can fill the neck holes and redrill if needed - that is pretty simple.

This is my mighty mite neck, fitted with stainless frets (I guess its 5th or 6th year without problems), some no name 50$ ebay alder body strat (routed by myself for the trem), with a gotoh. sounds not so bad, when it has the pickups in :P

It sounded exceptionally nice with its previous mighty mite ebony fingerboard neck, which was ruined by an unlucky fret job. As you can guess, my problem with the mighty mites were the tiny frets. The feel of the neck is personal of course, you may still not prefer it.

Probably you're after a traditional strat, but I'm posting just in case

Re: Mighty Mite Strat body + Warmoth neck???

I have heard that the holes for mounting the neck on a Mighty Mite body aren't quite in the same spot as a 'proper' Fender. This may have changed though. I'm thinking maybe get the Warmoth neck without the holes drilled yet just to be safe. This is my main concern.

I want the 10-16" compound radius neck standard thin, maple fretboard, maybe stainless steel frets if I can afford it. I'd prefer an alder body with H-S-H for when I want to test humbuckers, but the Warmoth ones are a bit too expensive already finished. The ash/swamp ash Mighty Mite bodies should do fine as long as the Warmoth neck fits properly.

Save yourself a boatload of money and go for the unfinished neck from Warmoth. All you need to do is get "Casey's Tru Oil" and Casey's Gunstock Wax" both available from Bass Pro Shop (in Canada anyway) but should be available from any good gun store. This is the exact same product that Ernie Ball Music Man puts on their necks and you will not find a better playing neck than that. The feel is awesome when applied correctly. Go to the EBMM website to get instructions on how to treat their maple necks. +1 too on the Stainless Steel frets - that is an excellent choice in my opinion.

Re: Mighty Mite Strat body + Warmoth neck???

I was already planning on buying an unfinished neck, but not use tru oil. I recently re-coated an Ibanez neck with some satin polyurethane, and I've been really happy with how it came out. I still have plenty in a can, so I'll use that. All it took was three light coats and a bit of a gentle buff with steel wool.
