MIM Jacksons and Charvels

Just wondering if anyone has any "in-depth" knowledge of the MIM Jacksons and Charvels?

I'm mostly interested in learning about the hardware quality on these guitars, but the overall build quality as well. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on my first new Jackson in almost 20 years, but I don't really know anything about them anymore.

+ 1 on the above...

I like the 2015 natural dinky with quilt top and maple neck.
But I don't have good experience with Jacksons to write about.

The reports have been ok from what I understand. It's essentially the Fender Mexico plant.

Re: MIM Jacksons and Charvels

I have been looking into the same guitar, the chlorine MIM DK2, since there is no way I can afford a real USA Soloist at the moment. From what I have read, people have been very happy with them. They say they are not quite as nice as the USA made Jackson's, but for the money they are great. I haven't been able to play one yet locally, so I'm not ready to pounce yet... I still don't know what the neck compares to and I just can't do super thin necks anymore.

Exactly what I hear all the time also: "They say they are not quite as nice as the USA made Jackson's, but for the money they are great".

Unless you get a lemon, I think it won't disappoint you.

Re: MIM Jacksons and Charvels

Guys, how much would you pay for 1997 USA SL-1?

It's black, missing middle pickup, neck pickup is not original, definitely needs some re-wiring or pickups change.

not sure about fret wire, let say conservatively 60-70% left.

little tarsnish on the floyd.

For that year and in that condition, probably about $550.00 to $600.00.

Re: MIM Jacksons and Charvels

I bought a Charvel So-Cal in blue with the maple neck last Sept. It is freaking AWESOME. Perfect intonation out of the box. Compound radius neck is really good. Duncan Distortions sound awesome. Stays in tune perfect. Have not turned a screw on this guitar and that is a first. HIGHLY recommend them.

In 2007 I bought a 2004 model SL2H and it wasn't missing anything. So if a 3-year old in good shape brings $1100.00 and some change, then yeah, I think this guy is priced pretty high.

Re: MIM Jacksons and Charvels

A little update:

I ordered the DK2MQ-Chlorine the day I posted this. I ordered it from Sweetwater. Up til yesterday I hadn't heard a thing from them. I called their customer service to see what's going on and was told that Jackson hasn't shipped them anything in months and that they probably wouldn't get an order in until early to mid May.

WTF??? This isn't some high-end custom. This is a regular production "intermediate" guitar. Anybody know if something is going on with FMIC or sweetwater? I'm sure they do these guitars in batches but 3+ months waiting for delivery seems a bit much.

The lowest I've ever seen an SL1 sell for is $725 and that was a real POS. If the body and neck are in decent shape I would expect to pay $800-$900.

Damn that sucks my friend. Anyhoo I think those are cool looking.
Is that a top or a veneer on those? Either way looks killer. I can recall
a model years ago by a company called GMW Guitarworks (I think that's
the name.......somebody correct me if I'm wrong) that looked pretty like
that guitar, name was a chlorine burst or quilt as well. I lusted after that
model for ages, it was uber expensive and needless to say I missed the
opportunity of snagging one when it came up.
