Modding a RG7620 - swirl and other mods

Would you buy a RG7620 just to mod it to your likings? Would it be a good move?

Modding a RG7620

I have mine slated to send to Brian to have the neck scalloped, I just need to figure out which job during the week to blow off for an hour or so that I can actually hit MBE or someone and get the stuff shipped out... But I digress.

To answer your question, if you have a specific idea in mind and you can achieve it by buying a guitar you like and altering it to suit you better, why not?

Modding a RG7620

I just traded my les paul studio for a 7620 so i can modify it. Im going to make it a 7-string version of SV Bad Horsie guitar.

Modding a RG7620

This is EXACTLY why I bought a 7620. *I sold my UV777BK because I thought if I modified it, it would just be BLASPHEMY! B) *So I took the money from the sale, & purchased a 6-month old 7620 for $450, & I'll start my modification soon.

Modding a RG7620

I just bought a 7620 for $300.

Got a flight case with it for an extra $95.

Next stop - Flame Maple top, bridge p.u. only, and no controls...

Well, I've started modifying. *I got new pickup covers, knobs, truss rod cover, & pickup selector switch, all in white! *Next will be a white binding job on the body, neck, & headstock. *I'm thinking of a bookmatched flamed maple top in Transparent black. *What do you think? *After that, I either do a custom inlays on the fretboard, or put in those SIMS "light up" LED custom inlays.

Wow, that's shaping up to be a definite beauty!!!!
I love the black and white color combos on the RG7s, where did you get the pickup covers and what kind of knobs are they?
That finish sounds heavenly as well, great ideas!

revsharp777- Sounds like a great plan!

Ryan- are you going to put on the maple cap yourself?

The knobs are plastic like what you'd find on a Strat (1-10 numbers & "Volume" & "Tone" written on them). *I got the pickup covers from Jeannie's Pickguards. *See the Jemsite vendor list. *

I'd have the binding & maple top done professionally. *I couldn't do it myself. * I'd like to have white tuners & a white lo-pro, but I wouldn't know how to do it. *Do you guys?
