here is my modified rg570 with carbonfiber layers on top. its real carbonfiber and not a venear. i'm getting a rg520qs and sending the neck to jeremy at lgm guitars for a ebony freat board, binding and no fret markers except for the 12th fret and the headstock will also be done in carbonfiber with chrome decals. i will put the same carbonfiber on the rg520 body as my rg570. it really looks cool in person, you can see the dimension to it.

Great idea...has kind of a racing/industrial look. How thick is it? Did you clear coat over it?

its two layers of the 6oz fabric. it is cleared over, once its dried i'll take it out in the sun so you can get a good idea of how it looks. the carbonfiber with the clear looks rough when the light flashes from the camera. it has a completely different look in person.

this body is for my rg570. i'm gonna have jeremy do the neck on a rg520qs and do the same to that body also. i'm gonna also do the back cover plates in carbonfiber. the rg570 neck will still be the stock black but when jeremy does the rg520 neck he'll put the carbonfiber on the headstock.

i would suggest having jeremy at lgm guitars lay up a layer and apply it like a laminent. its a pain to work with carbonfiber, its hard to keep it strait and if you're gonna lay it up on the guitar body you'll have to do stages to build up your clear on the top to get it really smooth, if you use one that is layed up(vacumm bagged) it'll already be smooth and all you'll have to do is glue it to the body and trim. i do a good bit of work with carbonfiber so i'm used to working with it but if you want to give it a try i can give you the info on where to purchase the materials. its also very messy if you're gonna lay it up on the body.

Cool,I think i'll give a scratchplate a go first Ehehehe,But my main objective is something "differant" with my rg7,think that the carbon on the 7 with s/plate would make it differant enough from yours :-)

maybe you can use some of the color accented carbonfiber cloth. some of the lamborghini 6.0 diablos have it in their interiors.

Is that the stuff you use to cover dash items with, like custom cars/modified cars? I know thats a little vague, but you kinda cut to fit, then brush on a sealant/glue stuff then it's done?

we use it for interior pieces of the cars we build to replicate the real thing. we lay-up our own carbonfiber, its a cloth and you use a resin to wet it out. same thing as doing fiberglass work.
