My father and I just completed this 2-year (on and off) project. We started with an original RG3550 body, took few mm off the top, installed maple top, moved the controls around to match the JPM layout and built the neck from scratch.
The pickups are DiMarzio Illuminators with a regular 3-way switch and push-pull tone pot that splits both pickups.
The neck is 5-piece with flame maple and wenge strips and beautiful macassar ebony fingerboard.
For the tremolo we went with Edge Zero II which is a bit shorter around the fine tuners, so while rearranging the controls, we also made the top cavity a bit shorter to avoid having a gaping hole. Other than that, it fit the body perfectly.
Body finishing is the only thing we didn't do ourselves. I picked Porsche Acid Green paint code, took it to a local car body shop and they mixed it based on the paint code.
Few pics below. Tried adding them as [ img ] tags, but they were not showing up. If anyone knows how to fix, it would be appreciated
