My Ibanez RG560

I decided to bust out this dusty old thing. I love the guitar tbh. I've just been to lazy to replace the 13 gauge strings that I hate so much. Threw some 10's on and I love the feel of the neck. I just don't know anything about the guitar itself. I baught it from a pawn shop for 200 dollars. Was just curious on some of the specs.

From my understanding, it's production was stopped in 1993. The tremolo system started off with a floyd rose system, then to an Ibanez Edge Lo-pro system from 91-93. Is this correct? My serial number is F911118. I'm not exactly sure when my Ibanez was made. I read some website on how to read the license number, but it said it could mean the 9 stands for 89 or the beginning of 91. I'm completley confused. Mainly I'm just trying to figure out what kind of tremolo it has. Can anyone help? It says "licensed under floyd rose patents" Would this make it a Lo-pro tremolo? The ones introduced after the floyd rose, which many consider inferiour?

Re: My Ibanez RG560

Well the first trem was the "Edge", and then the "Lo Pro Edge". The original Floyd Rose was never offered.

It would appear that you have a 1989 560, which would mean it came with the original Edge.

Re: My Ibanez RG560

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try to post pics, even though it's nothing special. Just a natural finish RG560, with stock pups for the mean time(gunna throw in my EMG 81)

And yes, 13 gauge, and I hate them! I personally like 9's.

Re: My Ibanez RG560

Get those 13 gauge strings off of there. Those thin Wizard necks aren't meant to handle that heavy gauge of a string.

Anyways, congrats on the guitar!

Re: My Ibanez RG560

nope, still no good,my 1.5mm allen key wont fit,i think the hexagonal slot in the grub screw is rounded/worn,ive had it set up recently but i think ive been ripped off,i'm an engineer and use allen/hex keys all day long, and theres no way on earth they've undone that 1.5mm screw to set the string height.
