My latest project

Well I've not been on here for a long while! But after a little stint on the sevenstring.org forums I couldn't help but come over and see what's changed. Not much it seems!
Anyways, I'm now a trained luthier and am in the process of setting up business under the name Dark Matter guitars. My latest project is a fanned fret 7 string acoustic. I built this guitar as sort of a showpiece for the company. Here are some photos...

Please check out my website at www.darkmatterguitars.com
My next project is an electric 8 string, which may interest some of you guys a little more

Beautiful work!

What woods did you use? What scale lengths did you use? How does it sound and play?

Re: My latest project

Thanks for the kind words guys. As for a price, the guitar's not really up for sale, but to make another similar instrument would be over £2k, it's a labour intensive process!

As for further specs... http://www.darkmatterguitars.com/showcase/dmg003/

Re: My latest project

Absolutely amazing. I've got a question, however. It's a bit of a noobish question, but this seems like the proper forum to utter it - especially pondering the result.
Is it possible to build an acoustic guitar which has individual saddles for intonation adjustment? Would it have a negative impact on the acoustic sound if so?

As far as the guitar - the angle at the bridge looks okay - but the angle at the nut looks insane! How does it feel to play? Also - I'd love to see a video of that thing.

What we used to do was glue three bone saddles together and carve the wide blank into an intonated saddle using intonation secrets obtained by selling our souls to the Devil - the result was a saddle which accurately intonated, but which also retained the mass necessary to drive the top of the guitar.

What's your view Jammy?

Re: My latest project

Nice to see you again round here Jammy! It's been a while.

I saw this over on sevenstring.org - very impressive matey, and there's certainly an opening in the UK/World market for this sort of stuff.
