My modded Ibanez RG470

2001 RG 470. Was totally hideous Titanium Ice finish when I got it. I decided to go a little crazy with the mods

I couldn't deal with the finish so I stripped it and sealed the body for a natural Nuno N4/Becker type feel. I'm not a trem guy at all so I blocked off the Lo-TRS so it would function as a hardtail bridge.

I removed the locking nut (I hate them) and replaced it with a brass nut. Fretboard got a full scallop and a new set of Dunlop 6100's.

I had the humbuckers hard mounted to the body. The guitar came already with SD Pearly Gates in the neck and bridge. I will probably replace those sooner or later but for now, the is the best guitar I have ever owned.

I string up with Dean Markley signature .12's but I will be switching to Blue Steel .13's. Tune to drop B.

These are the before pics. I don't miss how it was at all. Even looking at pics of Titanium Ice and those knobs is hard to stomach

Re: My modded Ibanez RG470

I really liked the changes, the guitar still looks like a production model which personally I think is a good thing.

Thanks Bro. I like pastels and I like flake finishes, but TI was just too inbetween.

Awesome!
I've got an early MIJ RG470 EG with Edge. I'm putting a Fernandes Sustainer in it.

Re: My modded Ibanez RG470

I've got an RG550 I'm thinking about putting Gravity Storms into. Eventually one of my RG's is going to get a sustainer, the RG550, RG570 with Evo's, or RG450 with Breed's?

I agree, actually I've always wondered why ibanez never released a fully scalloped neck model.

Fender has been doing for years and I saw an ESP guitar too. I'd totally buy an affordable scalloped guitar (and 470 seems perfect for this) which is same or very close to Proletariat's idea.

I lot of people are totally put off by the full scalloped idea. They believe them to be only for "shredders" for an example. I'm strictly a rhythm player and the advantages to scalloping are numerous. Much, much easier to play for long periods of time since it totally decreases your left hand fatigue.

I can say with total certainty, every guitar I personally will keep from here on will be fully scalloped.
